Late last year, A. Lange & Sohne announced a limited edition collection created in honor of the late Walter Lange. Mr. Lange became a legendary figure among watch lovers for returning his family’s company to its former glory with the help of the Richemont Group following German reunification. The 1815 “Homage to Walter Lange” – which is being offered in 145 examples in white gold, 90 in pink gold, and 27 in yellow gold, as well as one unique stainless steel execution – is a jumping seconds wristwatch based on a historical pocket watch made by the German firm in the mid-1800s. At the time we first reported on this limited edition, which was formally presented at SIHH, we also reported that the stainless steel version would be auctioned for charity of some kind at some point in 2018. Now we’ve got all the details.
