At HODINKEE we like a good presentation watch. They are a great way to add some history to an otherwise run of the mill watch. Presentation dials seem to be particularly popular in the Middle East, and in America. They are strongly associated with he big names of American industry, like, you know – Winn Dixie.

The presentation watch we’ve got for you today is from perhaps one of the most culturally influential, quintessentially American brands, and (excluding perhaps Ralph Lauren) perhaps the most significant brand continuously associated with its creator and founder. By now I’m sure you will have all guessed that we are talking about the one, the only – Playboy.

Fittingly then, the watch we’ve got today is a ladies Omega from the 1970s. Featuring a (most likely aftermarket redialled) mystery dial with a single diamond at 12 and a gilt Playboy bunny at 6. What really sells us on this watch however is the inscription, “Ethel Nicastro With Thanks Hef.” Now, extensive Google image searching has yielded no hints as to who Ethel was (the seller says it was presented to an employee), but it’s a pretty cool little piece for lovers of Americana and 1970s bling alike.
