Well, we finally got to put our hands on what could possibly be the watch of the year (in our very humble opinion). The Zenith Captain Winsor is everything a watch guy should want in a watch – it’s classical, handsome, complicated, and innovative. Ben Clymer wrote a Letter From The Editor saying it was a watch worthy of the whole industry’s attention, and the feedback on this watch has been deservingly enthusiastic.
The Zenith Captain Winsor is an annual calendar chronograph, and in steel (as pictured above), MSRP is only $8700. To the average non-watch person, that may sound like a lot. To anyone that has ever spec’d out an annual calendar chrono from any other watch manufacture, $8700 is a jaw-droppingly low price. In rose gold, as seen after the jump, it will run $18,800.
How is it possible that a true annual calendar based on a true in-house chronograph can be so affordable? Well, they worked with a man whose work you’ve seen with another line of watches called Ochs & Junior. But, you can read how this was all made possible here. This post is all about seeing this awesome new watch in all its glory.
Below are live photographs of both the steel Zenith Captain Winsor and the rose gold version. At 42mm, the watch is sized for today without going overboard and these watches just feel great. Click through for more looks at an exceptionally conceived wristwatch.
