Announced this week from fan favorite URWERK, is a very cool limited edition of their UR-110 Torpedo watch. Dubbed the ZrN Torpedo, this watch is covered in Zirconium Nitride: A champagne-coloured high-performance ceramic machine tool coating which, while only a few microns thick, is very hard (2000 Vickers).
Functions include Urwerk’s clever revolving satellite complication with rotating hours and minutes modules mounted on planetary gears. The hours and minutes are coated in bright yellow Superluminova. At the top of the dial is a day/night indication. An oil change indicator is located in the lower left quadrant of the dial (Urwerk’s unique system that alerts you when the watch needs service). The dial also features a small seconds indicator.
The Urwerk UR-110 is the second in the brand’s series of Rare Species, along with the UR-202 White Shark, and the ZrN Torpedo will only be made in 12 examples. Click here for more information.
