Introducing The Grand Seiko SBGR305

The movement is also very modern – it’s the Grand Seiko caliber 9S68, self-winding, running at 28,800 vph, with a 72-hour power reserve (an automatic movement with a three-day power reserve has been a basic feature of many Grand Seikos, the identity of which has always been to make a simple watch that offers as much convenience to the owner as possible). Its size is more contemporary than that of the vintage models too, at 40.5mm x 13.6mm, and it’s water resistant to 10 bar/100 meters. It also differs from the vintage inspired models in having a sapphire caseback. This should be a really interesting piece to see in person; the textured dial, mirror-finished hands, blued steel seconds hand, and slightly inset caseband should play with each other very nicely indeed.

The price at launch will be $7,200, and expect ref. SBGR305 to be available in July. It will be a limited edition of 968 pieces.
